Dr. Anita R. Bijoor - Assistant Professor, in the Department of Biochemistry at St.John's Medical College, is an MD, and currently a PhD student working on Lead. An MBBS Graduate from the Bangalore Medical College, she completed her post-graduation in the year 1996. She has actively participated in the " Project Lead Free," of "The George Foundation" .Her area of work involves the implications of low levels of blood lead, on the CNS, particularly the brain. She is working under the guidance of
Dr. Venkatesh T. She has successfully organized academic symposia / seminars / conferences andworkshops. She also has publications to her credit.

 

Mr. Herman D'Souza - Graduated from Kasturba Medical College in M.Sc., Medical Biochemistry in the year 1995. He joined St. John's Medical College in the year 1996 and actively participated in the" Project Lead Free," of "The George Foundation. " He is a member of the teaching faculty in the Department of Biochemistry. At present, he is doing his Ph.D., the area of work being lead toxicity and its effect on the liver, under the guidance of Dr. Venkatesh T. He has publications to his credit.

 

Dr.Abraham M. George - Chairman of eMedexOnline LLC, a medical diagnostic software company in New Jersey, USA. Formerly, he was a Vice-Chairman at SunGard Data Systems, a major computer software company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Between 1976 and 1998, he was Chairman and CEO of Multinational Computer Models, Inc. (MCM), a company he founded, which was acquired by SunGard Data Systems in 1998. During his tenure at MCM, his company formed a joint venture with CS First Boston, a global investment bank, where he held the position of Managing Director.

In 1995, George founded The George Foundation (TGF), a non-profit organization based in Bangalore, India, that is dedicated to the welfare of economically and socially disadvantaged people. His Foundation has initiated several projects in education, health, environment and the arts, which are described on the web site www.tgfworld.org. His keen interest in promoting democratic institutions and values led to the creation of the Indian Institute of Journalism & New Media (see www.iijnm.org).

George holds an MBA, MS and PhD in business administration from the Stern School of Business, New York University. He is the author of three books and numerous articles in the field of international finance, and edited a major publication on "Lead Poisoning: Prevention & Treatment".

Mrs. Geraldine Menezes - Graduated from University of Mysore in Biochemistry, in the year 1990 and joined St. John's Medical College in the same year. She is working as a Lecturer and also doing her Ph.D., under the guidance of Dr. Venkatesh T. Her area of research work involves lead toxicity on kidney in well nourished and undernourished conditions. She actively participated in the "Project Lead Free," of "The George Foundation." She has participated in organizing the academic meeting /symposia / seminars / conferences / workshops. She has publications to her credit.

 

Dr. Thuppil Venkatesh - Directed the " Project Lead Free," of "The George Foundation" and Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, has been responsible for the growth of the department as its Head since the year 1992. With his extensive teaching and research experience since 1970, he has been guiding Ph.D., and MD students in biochemistry under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences as well as Bangalore University. He is a Member, Board of Studies in several cities in India and is also involved in High altitude Biomedical Research as a keen mountaineer. He has
participated in several international and national conferences and served as a president of Association of Clinical Biochemists of India (ACBI), during 1995-96. He has successfully organized academic meeting / symposia /seminars/conferences / workshops.
